Here are 5 awesome healthy & inexpensive treats for your next road trip
Road Trip!!
- Nuts - Almonds are a favorite of mine. I portion the nuts into six small ziploc bags containing an ounce of almonds, which equals about 20-25 medium sized almonds. Portioning over several zip bags is a great idea and it helps avoid over eating. I also reuse my bags.
- Bottled Water - It's cheaper to bring your own. What I do the night before is freeze a few bottles overnight and pop them into a grocery bag and keep them separate from my dry goods. I tend to drink tons of water so depending on the trip I can drink three to four 16 oz bottles on a 4 hour trip.
- Fruit - I'm an apple freak so my fruit of choice is, of course, apples. I pack about four apples and I wash them before hand as well. My favorites are Pink Lady, Cameo and Gala. Oh and Grapes are fun too.
- Peanut Butter - A cool treat when coupled with apple slices or just by itself. I opt for the natural peanut butter w/ no additional sugar added. I'm feeling the Skippy Natural Extra Chunky brand right now--plus I have coupons for them. =)
- Protein Bars - You can make your own or buy'em. It's cheaper and easier to prepare them yourself. See the short video below.
Ok, your turn. What’s your favorite healthy road trip eating tips?
